Edward Thomas Walters, age 78 was born in San Francisco, CA on November 29, 1938 and passed away in his home in Lodi, CA on December 15, 2016. He was a beloved husband to his wife, Mary Virginia Walters for 54+ years. He had three children, Kelly Ann Harris, Jeffrey Scott Walters, and Richard Edward Walters. He also leaves behind his son-in-law of 32+ years, Michael Dewayne Harris, two grandchildren, Samantha Ashley Derrick and Michael Edward Harris and three great grandchildren, Ava-Marie Kelly Derrick, Anthony Joseph Derrick, and Maverick Alexander Harris.
Ed proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1957 to 1960. He was employed for 33 years with PG&E. Ed retired from PG&E in 1993. During his adult life, he had a passion for dogs. From their early years in marriage to the present, Ed and Mary always had two dogs, spanning at least 10 generations. After his retirement, Ed enjoyed walking his dogs Casey and Megan, and most recently Riley and Chloe. During his walks to Peterson Park in Lodi, he befriended many of the neighbors on Elm Street. Ed loved to engage in conversation and was frequently referred to as the Mayor of Elm Street. Ed learned to use the computer in his retirement years and became quite the writer. He provided his opinions in the Lodi News Sentinel and had over 100 articles published. Many of these articles which included topics from healthcare to politics were very well received and were commented on favorably.
While he loved his dogs and writing articles, Ed’s most precious moments were spent with his wife and visiting with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed was a man of great respect, trust and generosity, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
