Obituary for William Meyers
William Nelson Meyers, of Acampo, passed away on June 13, 2017, at the age of 85. William was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on April 9, 1932. He moved to California when he was very young with his family. William was a very quiet man, but he had a sense of humor. He used to pretend to be sleeping in order to scare his nurses at the Lodi Nursing and Rehabilitation. Many of them told me how much they enjoyed having him as their patient. When asked by my son, David, how he found it so easy to marry his mom, he replied, “Oh! That was simple, it was leap year.” He was also generous. If someone came asking for help, he was ready to give them a check. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 34 years as a conductor.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Meyers; brothers, Jim (Faye) Meyers and John (Joan) Meyers; sisters, Lila Meyers, Iris (Jim) Maier, and Rosie (Woody) Hausauer; children, William (Alesandra) Meyers, Sue ( Joe) Wobbe, and Rick (Angela) Meyers; also seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Olive (Pond) Meyers; sister, Mary, and her husband, Avery McQueen.
Friends are invited to visit Thursday, June 22, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home, Friday, June 23, at 12:00 noon. Committal will follow at Galt-Arno Cemetery.
