Obituary of Virginia Mae Dorey

Virginia Mae Dorey, age 91, of Lodi, CA. passed on August 8, 2021. Virginia was born in Boonville, Missouri to loving parents. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating and dancing. After she and her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Virginia would help in her parents restaurant; starting out at bussing tables to waitressing. Being a wife and mother were two of the most important parts of Virginia's life, roles that gave her much pride and joy. Our mother was an only child, she loved that through her children she was able to have a large family which she adored each and everyone with all her heart. Virginia and Leonard Dorey (preceded in death 2008) were married for thirty-two years. During their years together, they enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, golfing, riding motor cycles (yes, she had her own). Gardening and painting were passions she continued though out her life. Our mother was very adventurous and one of the strongest women we have known. We were lucky enough to have our amazing mother for all these years, recently celebrating her 91st birthday. Family and friends came from near and far to celebrate her special day. Mom said that being with everyone was the Happiest she has been. Although her absence has left a huge hole in our hearts, she’s left us with forever memories and love. Preceded in death by her mother Luella Lorine (Granny 1984) and Kenneth Gibson (1975). Son, James Ford (preceded in death 1998), his three daughters, Alfie, Karoline and Jamie and two grandchildren Alexander and Leslie Grace. Son, William and Linda Sager, their children Joshua and Natasha, and five grandchildren, Liam, Mason, Kaitlyn, Conner and Ryan. Daughter, Sonja and Blaine Ohls, her three children, Michael, Kristie and Ricky, seven grandchildren, Ian, Anjelina, Aaron, Madeline, Evrett, Noah and Austin and two great grandchildren Roland and Elowyn. Daughter, Patricia and Reagan Matheny, her two daughters, Sunshine and Melody and six grandchildren Derek, Wylie, Sterling, Jayden, Tristan and Matilda. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
