Alexius J. Schneider was born on November 9, 1922 in Strasburg, North Dakota. He died of natural causes at the age of 81, on Monday, November 17, 2003, in Arbor Convalescent Hospital. For someone who was a survivor of Scarlet Fever at the young age of 16, he became an avid dancer of Polka and Waltz, having joined the Elks, Dakota and Italian Clubs to apply his dance skills over the past 58 years. He was a resident of Central Galt for 28 years and an active member of the Lodi Moose Club #634 for the past 50 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing. He was affiliated with St. Christopher's Catholic Church. Alexius was a Corporal in the U.S. Army 869th Antiaircraft Battalion. He retired after 30 years from Aerojet General Corporation in Sacramento. Alexius was married 58 years to Irene V. Schneider. He is survived by his three children: David Schneider, Nancie Kenton and Darlene Vallee; three grandchildren, Jaimie Tippets, Alexius Kenton and Stephanie Kurtz, all living in the Sacramento area. He is survived by the following siblings, Mary Ann Brickner of N. Dakota, Rose Woods of Libby, Mt. and Agatha Randall of Billings, Montana. There is a Recitation of the Holy Rosary with Wilhemina Vanderburg officiating at Galt Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7 pm. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 9 am at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Galt with Father Jerry Ryle officiating.
