Helen C. (Bender) Tarnasky, 97, passed away in Lodi on November 11, 2003. She was born on April 1, 1906 in Lodi where she attended local schools and graduated from Lodi High School. After that she attended Dameron School of Nursing, graduating in 1927. She was an area resident for 97 years. Mrs. Tarnasky was a retired Registered Nurse. She worked for Dr. H.E. Hoff, Sr. until she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Eastern Star #150 and the Flora Rebekah Lodge #167 of Lodi where she was a member for over 50 years, and she was also a member of the Valley Vagabond Club of Lodi. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and taking care of her beautiful cat, Wilbur, and she also took in stray cats that she would care for. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Doris Tarnasky of Orange, Texas and three granddaughters; 6 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Tarnasky in 1987 and her son, Dallas Tarnasky in 1991. There was no visitation. A private service was held.
