Carmela Davis, 97, of Clements, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2003 in Lodi. She was born June 20, 1906 in New York City, N.Y. Her maiden name was Ronchetti. She and her family moved to Reno, NV in 1914. She later moved to California in 1933, first to Sacramento, then to Lodi, finally settling in Clements. She married Dominic Macri in 1923. She was preceded in death by her first husband. She later married William "Doc" Davis in 1942. She and her husband owned and operated the Clements Hotel from 1943 until 1951. She was a resident of Clements for 70 plus years. Mrs. Davis was a retired cook/dietician for the Clements School. She was often asked by the children who had her wonderful soups and other dishes for the recipe, even after many years after they left school. She worked for Clements School from 1952-1967. Her hobbies and interests were gardening (particularly flowers), cooking, crocheting and dancing. She was a devoted cat lover. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Rozzoni of Clements, Loving caregiver, Hatti Bliss of Clements; niece, Donna Brooke of Reno; niece, Lydia Nyhammer of El Cajon and nephew, Bill Ronchetti of Reno. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dominic Macri and her second husband, William "Doc" Davis. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dante and William Ronchetti, and sisters, Elena Agnese and Ida Ronchetti. A service in Chapel of the Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 21st with Father Alfred Alexander officiating of St. Anne's Catholic Church. A Eulogy willl be given by Dr. Larry Heath.
