Obituary of Alice Marie Handel

ALICE MARIE HANDEL, age 80 of Lodi, passed away on August 18, 2003 in a local convalescent hospital in Lodi. She was born Alice Marie Santini to parents Leo and Lena Santini in Superior, Wyoming. She graduated from high school in Rock Springs, Wyoming. During World War II, Alice lived in Long Beach for a short time and worked in a defense plant. She returned to Wyoming. In 1958 she came to California and lived in Stockton briefly. On November 3, 1958, she married A. J. "Bud" Handel and they made their home in Lodi. Alice was employed as a secretary by Lodi Unified School District in the Superintendent's office for five years. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church; Woodbridge Golf and Country Club; 49er's Ladies Group; Long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi Soroity; Lodi Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Alice was an avid reader and loved entertaining her family and friends. She also enjoyed golfing. Survived by her husband, Arthur J. "Bud" Handel of Lodi; 4 children, Ron Handel of Ripon, CA, John Handel of Adelaide, Australia, Pam Armbuster of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Don Braden of Stockton, CA; 6 granddaughters, and 1 grandson; Sister, Reka McFadden of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 P. M. at Lodi Funeral Home with Fr. Alfred Alexander of St. Anne' Catholic Church officiating. Private interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation at Lodi Funeral Home beginning on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P. M. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
