Soledad "Chole" Arenas, 70, of Lodi, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2003, of natural causes at her daughter's residence in Stockton, following a long illness. She was born on October 5, 1932 in Michoacan, Mexico, the daughter of Salvador Vega and Margarita Ramirez. Mrs. Arenas was a resident of Lodi since 1986 and a former resident of San Jose. She worked as a cannery worker for Sun Garden Foods in San Jose for 20 years. She was a member of the Lodi Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, sewing, crafts, singing, caring for exotic birds. She was well-known for her kindness and willingness to help others, and will be fondly remembered and missed by all who loved her. Mrs. Arenas is survived by her 7 children; Saul Vega of San Diego, Joel Vega of San Jose, Tobias Vega of Sacramento, Veronica Garibay of Acapo, Sandra Oregel of Stockton, Jose Alfred Arenas of Oakland and Oscar Arenas of St. Helena; 10 grandchildren: Saul Jr., Hector, Armando, Brian, Abbey, Eli, Almaree, Omar, Micky and Misael; 1 great-granddaughter, Arianna; 2 brothers, Gonzalo Vega and Sergio Vega of San Jose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Arenas, and her brother, Gabriel Vega. Friends are invited to attend Celebration of Life Services at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 10, 2003 and at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 11, 2003 Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. Graveside Committal Service and interment at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. Visitations will be 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home. A virtual register book can be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Club San Miguel, C/O Carlos Sarabia, 1951 Hemlock Drive, Oakley, CA 94561. Lodi Funeral Home entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
