Obituary of Anna Joan Fried

Anna Joan Fried, 83, of Lodi, passed away on July 14, 2003 at a Lodi hospital following a long illness. She was born on December 8, 1919 in San Francisco, the daughter of Gabriel and Flora Kureon, and third eldest child of her family of six children. Anna attended local schools in San Francisco and graduated from Balboa High School. After her graduation, she attended business college and worked as clerk for a greeting card company, as an usherette in theaters and as a clerk for a furniture store in downtown San Francisco. On January 21, 1950, Anna married Bohuslav "Cyril" Fried in San Francisco. On October 2, 1953, the couple was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Maryann. In 1973, the family relocated to Petersburg, Virginia, where Anna served as a Red Cross volunteer at several military hospitals for many years. In 1994, they came back to California and lived in Galt and, later moved to Lodi. Anna was a avid reader and enjoyed handiwork as well as watching soap operas. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bohuslav "Cyril" Fried of Lodi; daughter, Maryann Davis of Galt; three grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and her sister, Florence Dumbauld of Longview, Washington. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gabriel, and three sisters, Elizabeth, Elaine and Tiberia. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 18th, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue, Lodi, CA. Committal will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 17th, 2003, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A virtual register book can be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com.
