Helen Elizabeth Mason, 92, of Lodi, entered into rest June 8, 2003, at a local convalescent hospital, following a long illness. She was born Helen Elizabeth Beckman, in Lodi, on August 2, 1910, the daughter of Albert J. Beckman and Edna Jory. Helen was raised in Lodi and attended local schools. She graduated from Stockton High School, Class of 1928. After high school, Helen pursued studies in nursing at the St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1931. Following her graduation, she successfully passed the state nursing board examination and received her license as a registered nurse, fulfilling her dream of a career in health care. On November 16, 1932, Helen married Willard T. "Mike" Mason in Reno Nevada. The young couple decided to make their home in Lodi. Their marriage was blessed with one son and one daughter, who became their joy in life. Helen worked as a registered nurse for about 35 years, including one year of service, in 1952, at Lodi Memorial Hospital. She was a Past President of Omega Nu Sorority in 1942-43, and a long time member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Helen was known for her kindness and desire to help others. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband of 70 years, Willard T. "Mike" Mason of Lodi; her son, Willard T. "Ted" Mason, Jr. of Granite Bay, California; her daughter, Marilyn Massoni of Rio Vista; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Committal Service at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Lodi Memorial Cemetery, 5150 E. Pine Street in Lodi, followed by the interment. At her request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
