Jose H. Abreu, 79, of Galt, died on May 24, 2003 of natural causes at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1923 in the Dominican Republic. Mr. Abreu was raised in the Dominican Republic and lived in Ponce, Puerto Rico and Chicago before moving to Galt 16 years ago. He retired after working as a Galt School District custodian for 16 years, and had previously worked as a metallurgy laborer for Republic Steel Company in Chicago. Her had also worked as a petrochemical laborer for Corco Corporation in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. He was member of Galt Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall and ejoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Mr. Abre is survived by his wife, Maria Abreu; sons, Pablo Jose "Abraham", Alex, David, Rafael and Fausto Reynaldo Abreu; daughters, Damaris Neely, Enelia Medina, Joselyn Morales and Caroline Zapata; brothers, Rafael, Tomas and Miguel Abreu; sisters, Josefa, Maria Natalia and Amada Abreu; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchilden. He was preceded in death by his son, Conrado Abreu, in 1999; and sisters, Cipriana and Salustiana Abreu. A funeral service will be held at Galt Funeral Home with Herbert Enriquez of the Galt Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall officiating. Committal at Galt-Arno Cemetery will immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Galt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
