Dorothy Rhoda Buhler, 81, went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2003 in Longmont, CO after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 13, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to August and Louise Ross. She received a degree in music from the London College of Music in 1940. She attended Winnipeg Bible College with her future husband, Aaron, graduating in 1942. On July 25, 1942 she married Aaron Buhler. In 1956 she graduated from nursing school in Lansing, Michigan. She gave piano lessons, and did private duty nursing for a number of years. Dorothy and Aaron served pastorates in Canada, North Dakota, Michigan, California, and Ohio. They also had interim positions in Kansas, Oregon, and California. She was the church organist at most of these locations, and sometimes the choir director, and accordionist. On a couple of occasions she even gave the sermon, when Aaron had throat surgery. Dorothy and Aaron traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Africa. On several occasions they led the tours. She was known for her beautiful smile and willingness to help in all aspects of church service. She loved her family unconditionally. Her hobbies were reading, doing crossword puzzles, oil painting and knitting. Her patience was enviable, and she found contentment in trusting the Lord. Dorothy?s husband Aaron preceded her in death in 1995. A son, Dean Raymond Buhler died in 1951, and her two brothers, William and Victor also preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Sukut and her husband Leonard of Chicago, Illinois, and Amy Gretzinger of Kelowna, BC, Canada; one daughter, Donna Schimke and her husband Roger of Loveland, Colorado; two sons, Ross Buhler of Lodi, California, and Dwight Buhler of Tolucca Lake, California. She also leaves five grandchildren; Denise Schimke of Longmont, CO, Heather Schimke of Darien, CT, Rhonda James and her husband Matthew of Loveland, CO, Laura Hamilton and her husband David of Cleveland, OH and Clinton Buhler of Cleveland, OH. She also had four great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Lodi. Friends may visit Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited to attend services Monday at 11:00 at Lodi Funeral home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave, Lodi. with interment at Lodi Memorial Cemetery immediately following. Lodi Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
