Obituary of Theresa Ann Whittington

Whittington, Theresa Ann, “Terry”, “Tree” (Macias), age 77, of Stockton, CA was surrounded by
immediate family when she passed away on the morning of June 12, 2022 after a short battle with
nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Terry was born November 26, 1944 to Santiago and Rose (Acevedo) Macias at Vallejo Community Hospital in Vallejo, CA. She graduated from Edison High School in 1962 and continued to enjoy regular reunions with a special group of her former classmates. In 1964, while working for Sears, Roebuck & Co., Terry met her husband, Ken. Terry retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles after more than two decades of service and returned to State employment for 5 years as a retired annuitant. After retirement, Terry’s passion became volunteering for the Stockton Civic Theater beginning in 2008 where she was a mic lady. The actors, fellow mic ladies, and other numerous volunteers became family to Terry. She loved them all. Her true adoration and commitment, however, was for her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her life. Service to others was consistent throughout her life, putting everyone else above herself, always. She made sure others felt celebrated and loved. Her favorite baby shower gift was a personally knitted baby blanket and a large part of her family owns a pair of specially knitted slippers. She thoroughly enjoyed taking cruises with her husband and the Motor Vehicle Managers and Supervisors Association members. Terry is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ken; daughter, Veronica Schmidt (Ed); son, Greg Whittington (Traci); grandsons Eddie (Abby) and Devon; granddaughters Samantha, Hannah (Derick), and Bailey; great-grandchildren Kelton, Preslie, Grayson, and Uriah; and best friend, Putsy Hong (George). Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St., Lodi, CA 95240 followed by burial at Lodi Cemetery.
