Obituary of Arthur C. Gustafson

Arthur Gustafson slipped away peacefully after a long illness. Art was born in Canada and arrived in California as a small child. Art graduated from Los Altos High School in 1964, and earned an AA degree from West Valley College. Art was the possessor of a keen business mind, a great smile, and a quick laugh. Art operated Art’s Auto Wrecking in Stockton for over 35 years, and was a resident of San Joaquin County for 50 years. Art loved vintage cars, hot rods and drag racing, and in his youth was frequently spotted at Fremont Dragstrip and Stockton 99. Later in life, Art was seen on various tracks around the region when racing his 1941 Willys. Upon his retirement and looking for a new adventure, Art became a walnut farmer. Art was predeceased by his parents, Charlotte and Charles Gustafson, his sister Karen Meeker, and his longtime companion Norma Steyaert. There are no formal memorial services planned.
