Jared Zulueta

Obituary of Jared Bryan Zulueta

Please share a memory of Jared to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jared Bryan Zulueta, beloved husband, father, brother, cousin, uncle and friend, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 5th, 2023 at the young age of 48.

Born in Stockton, California on September 7th, 1974, he was the second blessing for his parents, Victor Sr. and the late Evelyn Zulueta.  Born prematurely, Jared was a fighter and beat all odds as a baby.  That fight transcended into becoming the strong man we all knew him to be.

A lifelong resident of Stockton, he attended Van Buren Elementary School, Marshall Middle School and eventually graduated from Edison High School.

Upon graduating high school, Jared eventually attended San Joaquin Delta College with his cousin, A.J., who inspired him to come back to school with him.  It was while he attended Delta College where he found his niche and became an exemplary employee of the school, where he was employed for 23 years up to the time of his death, where he made lifelong friendships with coworkers.  Striving to do more, Jared recently was promoted to Maintenance II position, where one of his duties was maintaining the college’s pool system and equipment. He was proud of his accomplishment as much as his family was proud for him.

In 1998, Jared met the love of his life, Marla.  She was the Yin to his Yang.  Marla was the polar opposite that balanced Jared.  It was because of her Jared strived to build a life for the two of them.  Jared and Marla lived life together for 10 years when they finally took the leap of faith and exchanged vows on September 27th, 2008.

But Jared’s biggest accomplishment was being father to his two young boys, Baby Jared (JZ) and Mason. They were his world and his meaning to life.  He made sure his boys knew that he loved them with all his heart: which wasn’t hard because inside the shell of a man, he was a kid at heart himself.  Having that love in his heart, made him the rock of his household and helped him build the life that he wanted for his family.

Jared was an avid bowler, video game enthusiast, and an excellent cook; he enjoyed and always took advantage of the opportunities to spend time with his family and closest friends.  Being brought up in a tight knit family setting, Jared made that the fabric of his soul.

Jared was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Zulueta, and he is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Marla (together twenty-five years), two sons, Jared (13) and Mason (9), father Victor Zulueta, Sr., older brother Victor (Jay) Zulueta, younger sister Trisha Zulueta (Wife Rachel) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jared’s transition will forever leave a hole in the fabric of our family.  There is no way to replace his personality, goofiness, infectious smile, his laugh, or the love that he had for his family and friends.

We would like to invite those who can attend, to come celebrate Jared’s life.  A rosary will be Monday, February 20, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave., Lodi, California. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church; 3847 N. Sutter St., Stockton, California Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception will follow.
