Obituary of David Gordon Muratore

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

David G. Muratore, 83, of Lodi passed away peacefully after a long ill-ness on the evening of March 29, 2023 at his home with family by his side.

Dave was born on May 19, 1939 in Stockton, California, growing up in French Camp, California. He attended French Camp Grammar School and graduated from high school in Manteca in 1957. He spent his growing up years working with and for his father on the farm and various family businesses. After graduation he joined the Army Reserve in 1957, serving six months in Kentucky and discharged in 1964. Upon completion of his active duty he worked as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for Teichert Construction in Stockton and later for Claude C. Wood Co. in Lodi, retiring as a super- visor in 1992.

During his early adult years, after putting family and work first, he loved to scuba dive up and down the California coast with his daughter Perri and dear friend Leon Bradford. He loved watching his daughter in her sports activities along with coaching and attending sporting events for his nephews Michael and Marty Muratore.

In 1991 he was introduced to Jeannie Nagel by a mutual friend. They were married on July 17, 1993. Dave had retired from the construction world in January 1992. The day after Jeannie retired in 1994, he had the RV loaded up and ready to start their adventures. They were blessed with twenty five years of RV travel in United States, Canada, and Mexico. Also spending many years boating on the Delta.

Dave was a member of the Elks and Oddfellows in Lodi. Also Foothill 49’er RV club, with whom they traveled to many monthly club outings in California, Oregon, and Nevada and acquired many dear friends and traveling companions. His favorite RV trips were with his children and grand-children. A week spent in Pismo every year was a delight with them. Also many trips across the coun- try with grandchildren Raymond, Hannah, and
Rhett.

After a diagnosis of dementia in late 2018, they sold their home at Oxbow Marina on the Delta with the beautiful Georgiana Slough running through their backyard and moved back to Lodi to be closer to family, friends, and medical.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Elizabeth Muratore, brother Charles Muratore, and sister Geri Hooper- Bosch. He is survived by his wife Jeannie, daughters Perri Johansen (Ray), Brenda Acosta (Tony) and Audrey Nelson. Grandchildren Sarah Galloway (Tylor), Raymond Johansen, Hannah Acosta, Rhett Acosta, and Julian Monroe. Also blessed with two great grand-daughters, Ada and Wilder Galloway. And last but not least, his beloved dog of 17 years,
Gino.
