Obituary of Marlene Marquette Gritts

Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marlene Marquette (Lamb) Grits was born on Wednesday, September 16, 1936 in Chico, California. Her spirit passed peacefully into her heavenly home surrounded by her beloved family on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in Victor, California.

Marlene was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, grandmother and friend.

In childhood, Marlene attended schools in Chico and later in Modesto, earning her Real Estate Broker’s License and Associate’s Degree, majoring in Liberal Studies with a minor in Music.

She had a passionate gift of sharing her faith in God, loving people, cooking, playing the piano, singing, painting, traveling, dancing and camping. She loved collecting old books, antiques and copper.

Marlene was energetic and outgoing in nature and had a playful spirit. She loved talking on the phone until the wee hours of the morning and felt sleep was an utter waste of precious time!

Marlene never met a stranger, she was the life of every gathering and had just enough sassisness to never be boring!

Marlene will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege and honor of knowing and receiving her love!

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Doris Lamb, her husband, Dwight, sons, Randy and Mark, sisters, Patsy and Delores, and brother, Gary. She is survived by her daughter, Christy, sister, Leora, and brother, Jimmy; grandchildren, Lesli, Justin, Lenore, Brandon, Sarah, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jordan, Russell, Harley, Breanna, Elyssa, Isaac, Gabriel, Benjamin, Eloise, Harper and Cole; and great-great grandchild, Billy Bear.
