Obituary of Anthony Joseph Lopes
Anthony “Tony” Joseph Lopes passed away Saturday, December 16th at the age of 87. He was born in Terminous, California on November 10, 1936 to parents, Manuel and Maria Lopes and was a lifelong resident of San Joaquin County. Tony served with the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked over 60 years as a local farmer and also spent time as a truck driver. He was a parishioner of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lodi. Tony enjoyed gambling, taking day-trips, making models and woodworking, and starting various projects. Most of all he liked sitting at his ranch and spending time with his family.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Angie Toneralli, Laverne Costa, Mary Costa, and Antoinette Witt. He is survived by his wife, Gerri Lopes; children, Lisa A. Lopes, Lori L. Lopes, Tony J. Lopes Jr. (Gina), and Timothy E. Lopes (Kristin); step-children, Renee Link (Noel) and Ryan Link (Melissa); grandchildren, Noelle del Carmen, Michelle Uhlinger, Tera Uhlinger, Jennifer Adrian, and George Adrian Jr.; step-grandchildren, Elle Farmer, Lily Link, and Logan Link; 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and his brother, Edward Lopes (Lois).
The Lopes family would like to thank the staff at Vienna Convalescent, DaVita Dialysis, and Hospice of San Joaquin for their care and the comfort they brought to Tony.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave., in Lodi. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St., in Lodi. Committal services are being held privately at Cherokee Memorial Park.
