Myrtle May Marley, a remarkable woman known for her spunk, kindness, selflessness, and love,
passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 14, 2024, in Lodi, CA, at the age of 96.
Myrtle was born in Alameda, CA on February 14, 1927, to Marin and May Eustachy. She was one of
six siblings, including Alice, Butch, George, Dorothy, and Betty Lou. Despite coming from humble
beginnings, Myrtle survived the Great Depression and went on to graduate from Alameda High
School. During World War II, she worked at Southern Pacific Railroad as a file clerk.
Myrtle married Brent Marley on May 31, 1947, and they had 63 wonderful years together. They had two
children, Christopher and Laurie. They first lived in Hayward, CA, where Myrtle began her career with
Pacific Telesis Phone Company as a telephone operator. She eventually worked her way up to
management and retired after 32 years of service. Myrtle and Brent lived in several different cities,
including San Ramon, Stockton, Fresno, and Linden, and even started their own trucking company
for a few years. They enjoyed traveling, looking for bargains at the flea market, and going out to
dinner every Friday night.
Myrtle was very active and enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, bowling, and dancing. She loved
to travel and play the nickel slot machines while enjoying a glass of red wine. Most of all, she loved
spending time with her family, throwing big holiday parties and playing board games and puzzles
with her grandchildren. Myrtle was dedicated to her family, always putting their needs first and
sacrificing her own wants and needs to ensure their happiness.
Myrtle is survived by her sister Betty Lou, her children Christopher Marley (Betty) and Laurie Blake,
her grandchildren; Shelley (Troy) Hoskins, Wendy Marley (Matt), Cassey (Timothy) Withers,
Christopher (Cheryl) Amador, and Chriselle Hernandez and , her great-grandchildren; Curtis
(Kahla) Cook Jr., Ashley (Joey) Hjelmstad, Megan (Rusell)Perez-Utter, Morgan (Ryan) Splawn, Katie
Manning, Summer Manning,Nathan (Kori) Brooks, Justin
(Macie) Brooks, Katie (Kevin) Plaster, Tawni Hoskins Allyson Amador, Lacie Withers,Alexis Amador, and Charlotte Hernandez, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband Brent Marley, her parents Marin and May Eustachy, and
her siblings; Alice O’Connell, Butch Eustachy, George Eustachy, and Dorothy Bowers.
A memorial service will be held on February 10, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at Lodi Funeral Home in Lodi,
CA. A celebration of life will follow at Casa Flores Restaurant in Lodi, where friends and family can
share memories and laughter.
Graveside services will be held on February 12, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at San Joaquin Valley National
Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.
