Obituary of Virginia Leann Hill

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Virginia L. Hill, a long-time resident of Lodi, California, went home to be with our Lord on March 22, 2024. She left our
world peacefully with family by her side. Virginia was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on July 29, 1939. As one of three children,
her early childhood years were dedicated to helping her mom and dad picking vegetables and cotton in the fields. Since
the family traveled wherever work was available, Virginia was able to see many places in her young life.

After moving to California, Virginia made the decision to remain here as her dad moved on for work elsewhere. At the
young age of 17, she married Albert F. Menezes, and soon their family grew with the addition of a son, Manuel, and a
daughter, Diane.

Although Virginia had a meager education, she knew the value of hard work. She began working on a tomato harvester
in the delta after her children started school. Virginia was a people person and she loved to serve others. She found
waitressing to be her niche and worked in several restaurants in the delta. Later in life, she worked at Woolworth’s in
Lodi, and when it closed, she went to work for JC Penny. These positions offered her the opportunity to continue being
helpful to others.

Virginia had a simple faith: love God and be kind to others. She reminded her children and pointed toward nature to
show them that there is a creator who loves us.

Virginia loved her family, and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by
her son, Manuel E. Menezes (Cheryl), and their children Brady Menezes, Curtis Menezes (Gabby), Lacey Stephens
(Adam), Lindsay King (Mike Armstrong), Kayla King (Enrique Salcedo); and, her daughter, Diane Blodgett (Lyndon), and
their children, Chad Tondee (Tina), Travis Tondee, Brandon Blodgett (Mory), Ryan Blodgett (Sarah Maimone), Samantha
White, and her great-grandchildren: Janie and Avery White, Troy Tondee, Aiden Maimone, Braydon and Sophi Blodgett,
James and Jordyn Stephens, Kamryn Olsen, Emilia Salcedo, Gabriel and Natasha Menezes, and Kaylee and Rowan
Menezes. She is also survived by her cousin, Dorothy Stanley. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Edward
and Bessie Valera Newland Neel, and her two brothers, Jerald and Earl Neel.
