Obituary of Gerald Dale Seibel

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gerald Dale Seibel passed away on April 7, 2024 at the age of 86 after a battle with cancer.  He was born on September 18, 1937 in McCloskey, ND to Albert and Martha Seibel.  He was the sixth of seven children.  In 1945, the family moved to Woodbridge, CA after a short stay in Washington.

Jerry attended Lodi Union High School where he was active in Drama and earned 3 letters running Track.  While there, he met Bonnie Stroh.  They both worked at Turnage Market after school.

In 1956 he graduated from high school.  He continued to work at Turnage Market until he entered the Army in October 1958, stationed at Fort Lee, VA in the Dental Corp.  When he transferred to the Reserves in 1961, he married the love of his life Bonnie on December 16, 1961 and they built their home in Lodi.  They were blessed with 2 daughters who were the joy of his life.

Jerry began working at Stockley-Van Camp in 1962, which later became Pacific Coast Producers.  While working there, he went to night school and earned his AA degree in Business at San Joaquin Delta College.  Upon his retirement in 1994, he worked for several local companies including Salsbury Market for 6 years. His last employer was JSG Trucking when he officially “retired” in June 2023 after his cancer diagnosis.

During Jerry's life, he coached Little League and both women's slow and fast-pitch softball teams for over 20 years.  He was a co-founder of the Lodi Grapettes and was in partnership with his sister Shirley, running the Lodi Softball Complex Concessions for 7 seasons. He also played softball and was in a bowling league. Jerry was president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a faithful member of Grace Point Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie of 62 years, his daughters Tammy (Tom) Lanier and Julie (Charles) Olson, 4 grandkids (who he adored) and their spouses—Chanel (Jacob) Smith and Ryan (Claire), Aubrey and Hannah Olson—and his sister Mavis.

Jerry cherished his children and grandchildren but especially his wife Bonnie.  He will be remembered as a kind-hearted, selfless man who had a great sense of humor, finding joy in making others smile.
