Obituary of Kathleen Dainty Wiegant

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With broken hearts we said goodbye to the unforgettable Kathleen (Kathie) Dainty (Rourke) Wiegant after a sudden and brief illness on May 11, 2024, at the age of 80. Kathleen was born in Oakland, California on August 24, 1943 and moved to Redwood City when she was five. Sadly she lost her mother, Dorothy Iola Dainty Rourke, while in fifth grade at John Gill Elementary. She and her sister continued to be raised by their father, James D. Rourke and maternal grandmother, Madge Dainty. She was in the class of 1961 at Sequoia High School and later married Bill Price Wiegant. This marriage eventually ended, but not before producing her two beloved children, Joni and John.

Kathleen had an adventurous spirit that led her through a variety of life experiences. She was always on the move, living in Redwood City, Newark, Valley Springs, Lodi, Idaho, Missouri and Hawaii. She spent time as a legal secretary, waitress, banker and worked at National Geographic magazine. Most recently she was a member of the Stanford Soul Line Dancers, the Eagles Club, Los Trancos Woods Community Marching Band, as well as an active hiking group and bocce ball community. She was also an “Avon Lady” for many years and enjoyed delivering her products and making friends with her customers. She was always a generous friend who could be counted on to help out with anything at a moment’s notice. In the last several years she traveled extensively with her sister, Nancy, driving on road trips across the country, cruising around the world, going to countless music festivals and highly anticipated yearly visits to the Honkey Tonks of Nashville, where they would enjoy the music and dancing from morning until late into the night. Kathleen never wanted to miss out!  She was absolutely always up for everything and she never let anything get her down.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Joni Marie and John Price Wiegant, grandchildren Max and Victoria Wiegant, her sister Nancy Margaret Lindeman, niece Susan Lee Lindeman and grand niece Everly Faith Berg, as well as countless friends from all over who adored her for her relentless positive attitude and big beautiful smile that could truly light up a room. She will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held on her birthday this year, friends and family will be notified of the details as they become available.
