Obituary of Louise Virginia Barkley

Louise Virginia Barkley, 75, of Lodi passed away on May 12th at a local hospital. She was born on March 29th, 1949, in Lodi, where she was raised. Louise attended Lodi High School and graduated in 1967. She received her BA from Chico State in 1971. After years of being a stay-at-home mom, she earned her teaching credential and taught most of her time at Lawrence Elementary in Lodi. During her retirement, she continued to dedicate her time to volunteering at Lawrence and Lakewood Elementary. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of over 50 years, Bill, and her 5 children, Ian (Michelle) Barkley, Elizabeth (Doug) Prizmich, Emily Barkley, Samuel (Jamie) Barkley, and Colin Barkley. She had 8 grandchildren. Heather and Leah Prizmich, Hannah and Kiley Burgess, Daniel and Isabel Barkley, Mildred and Mabel Barkley. One sister Linda (Alan) Baker and sister-in-law Colleen Young and many nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her mother and father Virginia and John Young, brother Michael Young, and nephew Eric Young. The viewing will be held at Lodi Funeral Home on May 23 from 5 pm to 7 pm and is open to friends of Louise. Graveside committal will be private at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Please join us for a Celebration of Life for friends and family on June 22th, at Block 21 Winery at 5 pm.
