Obituary of Tyler Douglas Tostenson

Please share a memory of Tyler to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lodi resident Tyler Douglas Tostenson passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at age 30. He was born in Carmichael, California on January 21, 1994 to parents, Doug and Teresa Tostenson, the youngest of three children.

Tyler loved Boy Scouts. He started out as a tiger scout as a young boy and worked through all the scouting ranks to subsequently become an Eagle Scout in 2010. His family, leaders, and friends were very proud of his efforts.

Tyler attended Folsom High School where, as a sophomore, he passed the high school equivalency exam and then directly attended Folsom Community College at age 16. Tyler worked various jobs over the past 10 years, mostly in the Commercial Construction, Plumbing, and HVAC industry.

Tyler held a strong faith and loved God. Tyler had a cross tattooed on his thumb, which he proudly displayed for all to see.  He read his bible often and could recite verses at will. Tyler wore his cross necklace, with the Lord’s Prayer printed on it, almost daily and was even wearing it when he went home to meet his heavenly father.

Tyler was a warm and caring soul who was kind, funny, smart, and loving, with a gentle spirit.  He was gracious enough to show that with his girlfriend Rumi.  Rumi and Tyler loved each other very much.  He loved animals and was known amongst family and friends as the dog whisperer. He loved children and was an amazing uncle to his nieces and nephew. He had the biggest heart and was very giving to all those around him.

Tyler had a thirst for knowledge and he loved to read classic books. He enjoyed good food, loved going to restaurants and traveling with his family. Tyler had a passion for skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, boating, camping, golfing and playing Monopoly with his friends. He was also an online gamer.

Tyler is survived by his parents, his brother, Steven Casey, Steven’s fiancé Tiffany, and nieces Kaitlyn, Adelia, and Rosemary, as well as Tyler’s sister, Tiffany Benda, her husband Colin and niece Ailia and nephew Cian. His Grandmother Mary Brown, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to everyone who met him, he will be missed by so many but not forgotten.
