Obituary of Leone Alonzo Jensen

Leone Alfonzo Jensen passed away May 17, 2006. He was born August 3, 1923 to Serren Alfonzo Jensen and Belinda Pearl Miller Jensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young boy in Utah, he sang in the Salt Lake City Mormon Tabernacle. After leaving Utah he lived in the Los Angeles area where he sang in many vocal competitions with such singers as Bobby Breen. Because of poor health he could not continue singing professionally; however, music was always a big part of his life. He could be heard singing or whistling everywhere he went. He was very proud that his daughter also loved to sing, and they sang together on many occasions. Leone graduated from Montebello High School before entering the United Sates Army Air Force in 1943. He attained the rank of Staff Sgt, flying on B-24s as a flight engineer and gunner during WWII and completed 15 missions over Germany before his discharge in 1945. On April 23, 1944, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Eleanor Kelsey. The had one daughter, Sharon Marie Jensen of Lodi and two sons, Richard (Rita) Jensen of Fallbrook, CA and Gregory (Denise) Jensen of Mayfield, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Brett, Christopher, Brenda and Christy and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Serren and Belinda Jensen, his sister, Thelda Davis and brother, Elden Jensen. Leone retired from American General Life Insurance Company in 1985, where he was an insurance agent. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Lodi. There is no visitation, and committal is private.
