Fannie Swafford Berkowitz, 99, of Galt passed away in Galt on May 11, 2006. Mrs. Berkowitz was born on March 1, 1907 to Arthur and Nancy Jane Stansell in Cullman, Alabama. She moved to the Lodi in 1936. She worked as a meat processor for 25 years. She also worked as a cook in Lodi at the Log Cabin and Richmaid Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing and quilting and being with her family. She will be so dearly missed. Mrs. Berkowitz is survived by her children; son, Jerry Swafford of Woodbridge; daughters, Nadine (Clifford) Martin of Galt, Earline(Calvin) Henne of Modesto and Patricia (Frank) Tanti of Galt; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Swafford and second husband, Bernard Berkowitz, two brothers and five sisters. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park. There is no visitation.
