Obituary of Arthur J. Hoffman

Mr. Arthur J. Hoffman of Acampo passed away Monday March 20, 2006 in a Lodi hospital at the age of 96. Mr. Hoffman was born December 11, 1909 in Ashley, North Dakota to Adam Hoffman and Lydia Meidinger Hoffman. He worked as the General and Sales Manager for Victor Fruit Growers and Victor Cold Storage for many years before retiring in 1980. He was also a vinyardist and cattleman and owned and operated the ?North River Ranch? in Acampo. Mr. Hoffman was a United States Army and WWII Veteran, being in the third group to be drafted from Lodi in 1941. Mr. Hoffman was very active in the local community and served on the Board of Directors for: Lodi Community Winery, California Grape and Tree Fruit League, United Vintners, Allied Winery and the Woodbridge Land and Development Co. He was a member of Woodbridge Gold and Country Club, American Legion Post #22(over 50 years), Lodi Historical Society, CA Farm Bureau, San Joaquin Historical Society & Museum, and the Lodi Rotary Club. He had a passion for horses and cattle. Mr. Hoffman rode his horses and enjoyed going on cattle tours. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was the beloved husband to Lorene Nies Hoffman of Acampo for 64 years. He is also survived by his daughter Sandra Stockar and husband Patrick of Lodi; 2 sisters, Kathryn Hoff and Hulda Roedel of Lodi; 2 dear granddaughters, Patricia and Lydia Stockar of Lodi, and 1 niece Elda Gilbeau of Lodi. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Thursday March 23, 2006, 10:30 am at the Lodi Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by 11:00 am memorial service at the Lodi Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 12:00 -8:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home.
