Mary Johanne Ferrara of Lodi, formerly of Stockton, passed away on March 13, 2006 at the age of 82 in Lodi. Mrs. Ferrara was born on June 30, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts to Carlo and Regina Vecchiato, immigrants of Udine, Italy. Mary graduated from Carney Catholic School of Nursing in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1944 where she received top honors in her class. She married Tom Ferrara in 1946 and started a family. Mary loved her grandchildren and enjoyed taking part in the lives of her great grandchildren. She was a people person, loved a good time and a good friend to many. She was very compassionate and always willing to help someone. She loved to read and walk. Mary was the directorof Nurses for Parkmont Skilled Nursing facility for many years. Mary is survived by her children; Tom (Colleen) Ferrara, Jr. of Cotati, Carla (Steve) Cole of Lodi, Bob( Darrylle) Ferrara of Stockton and Anne Marie Richter of San Leandro; grandchildren, Steven Cole, Dionne Cole Brooks, Eric Ferrara, Alan Ferrara, Regina Ferrara Heitman, Tommy Ferrara, Bryan Richter and Denny Pryds; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hutton Brooks, Cole Parker Brooks, Nicholas Thomas Cole, Paisley Hanna Heitman, Brittnee Kendrix-Cole and Tyler Brooks; brother Charles and his wife, Juliet and nephew, Chuck and many nieces, nephews and in-laws in Boston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Ferrara in October, 1992. She retired from nursing at the age of 73 and moved to Lodi to be near her daughter, Carla, whom she eventually moved in with at the early onset of her disease (Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy). A chapel service will be held at Lodi Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Nathan White of St. Anne's Catholic Church officiating. There is no visitation, and committal will be private at Golden Gate National Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Society of PSP, 11350 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, Maryland, 21031.
