Obituary of Wayne Gibbs Burrows

Wayne Gibbs Burrows, Sr., of Lodi passed away in Lodi at the age of 88 on March 7, 2006. Mr. Burrows was born in Traverse City, Michigan on March 10, 1917 to Calvin and Lulu May Burrows. He was educated in Traverse City, and on June 13, 1942, he married Dorothy Grace Troutwine in Traverse City. He also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired after 40 years from Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a supervisor. After retirement he and his wife moved to Fresno to be near his family in 1973, particularly to be a part of his grandchildren's lives. He then began working as an inspector for Pacific Bell, eventually retiring for a second time. In 1987, he and Dorothy moved to Tuscon, Arizona. They stayed there until they moved to Lodi in 2003 to be near family again. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Elks in Tucson, Arizona and Michigan California Pioneers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and most importantly, being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy G. Burrows of Lodi; son, Wayne G. and wife, Jackie Burrows of Woodbridge; daughter, Pamela Kay, husband, Ken Zin of Paradise; five grandchildren, Shelli Hampton, Amy Wells, Trey Burrows, Heather Pastorini and Bill Norman, V; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elvin and James Burrows. There is no visitation, and services and committal are private.
