Obituary of Agnes Ruth Northan

Mrs. Agnes Ruth Northan of Lodi passed away Saturday January 28, 2006 in a Lodi hospital at the age of 88. Mrs. Northan was born in Chaplan, Saskatchewan, Canada to Jacob and Agnes Funk. Mrs. Northan worked at T.A. Bowen & Sons Realty as well as Blue Ribbon Realty in Lodi as a real Estate Broker for many years before retiring in 1985. She previously worked for the California State Compensation Insurance Fund in Stockton and also worked as a secretary for Weldon Elementary School in Clovis, California before moving to the Lodi. Mrs. Northan was a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Lodi, Past President of Toast Mistress Public Speaking Club and the Newcomers Welcome Club of Lodi. She had a passion for writing and had published several short stories, as well as children stories. Mrs. Northan enjoyed public speaking, traveling, especially trips to Reno and spending time with her family and friends. She will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by 1 son, Gordon Northan and wife Rebecca of Reno, Nevada; 2 daughters, Lenore "Lori" Cass of Lodi; Leslie Carol of San Luis Obispo; 3 sisters, Sadie Owen of Kamloops, Canada; Katie Burelle of Roblin, Canada; Elsie Stewart of Kitchner, Canada; granddaughter Wendy Harris and husband Ron of Lodi, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Leonard Charles Northan in 1975. A memorial service will be held Saturday February 4, 2006, 2:00 pm at the St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Lodi, followed by a private inurnment. Arrangements are by the Lodi Funeral Home.
