Borghild Getsine Loken, 96, of Lodi, California died Monday at Arbor Convalescent Hospital of natural causes. Borghild Molde was born to Ingvald and Birgit Molde on October 2, 1909 in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was raised and attended the public schools in Montevideo graduating from high school in 1927. She attended Teacher Training in Moorhead, Minnesota before teaching rural schools in Chippewa County for six years. She married Bert T. Loken on June 12, 1935. They made their home on an 80 acre farm Bert had bought. Four children were born. Borg was busy as a homemaker and mother, involved in Sunday School and 4-H with the children. She resumed teaching in 1952. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church from her childhood until 1957. At that time the family moved to Bloomington, Minnesota where Borg taught and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She attended summer school and evening classes to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 1960. She retired in 1975 when Bert and Borg moved to Acampo, California and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church. They liked to travel especially to see family and friends. Borg found great personal strength in her unswerving Christian faith and enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles. In March, 1990 Borg moved to the Arbor Senior Apartments in Lodi. She moved to Arbor Place in August, 1999 and has resided at Arbor Convalescent Hospital since August, 2000. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Bert in 1988, one sister Josephine Randisi in 2003, two brothers Adolph in 1997 and Luthard in 2002, two sisters-in-law Irene Molde in 1986 and LaVonne Molde in 2000, two brothers-in-law Theodore Randisi in 1984 and Chester Heieren in 2004, and one grandson. She is survived by: one sister, Inez Heieren and one brother, Ingmar Molde both of Montivideo, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law Elizabeth Molde and Eleanor Molde both of Montevideo, Minnesota; three daughters, Joan Asche of Kasson, Minnesota, Julie Thorsheim of Northfield, Minnesota and Mary Haas of Stockton; one son, Philip Loken of Edwardsburg, Michigan; their spouses, Fred Asche, Howard Thorsheim, Helm Haas and Jean Loken respectively; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2006, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Ave., Lodi, with the Reverend Mark Price of St. Paul officiating. Inurnment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. Lodi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
