Obituary of Anna C. Schulz

Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
First Anna C. Schulz, 91, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 after a short illness. She was born November 5, 1914 in Washburn, North Dakota to the late Otto and Christina Schulz. In her teens Anna moved to Alberta, Canada, where her parents engaged in farming. After a number of years they returned to the United States and settled in Plentywood, Montana, where they established a restaurant and ice cream manufacturing plant. She was a partner in the business with her father and brother. When her parents retired, they moved to Lodi because of friends and relatives here, and Anna spent 55 years as a Lodi resident. She was a bookkeeper for the Buick Automobile Dealership Renney Motors in Stockton for 26 years. She was an ever-faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Lodi, where she was a choir member and church pianist for many years. After retirement, Anna volunteered as a reading tutor for elementary school children in the Lodi Unified School District, at Lodi Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady, and Loel Senior Center at the gift shop and registration desk. Church and music were very important to her family, who entertained each other and dear friends from church on Sunday afternoons at the farm, with singing and a family band made up of her two older brothers on the trombone and saxophone, their father on the French harp, and Anna on the piano. After retirement, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, spending time with her younger brother and his family, and reading the Bible, devotionals and mystery novels. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Irvin Schulz of Chula Vista and Roy Schulz of Napa. She is survived by brother, Gordon Schulz and sister-in-law, Janet Schulz of Lodi; beloved nieces, LeAnn Barclay and husband Jack of Galt and Peggy Lingbloom of Davis and precious great-nephews Joseph Barclay and Owen Lingbloom. At Anna's request, there will be no visitation, and a graveside service will be officiated by Dr. Steve Newman of First Baptist Church, with music by Ron Berry of Davis, at Cherokee Memorial Park on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation, 999 S. Fairmont, Suite 105, Lodi, CA 95240 or Baptist Church Building Fund.
