Obituary of Ruth Martha Schmierer

Ruth Martha Schmierer of Lodi passed away in Lodi at the age of 89 on December 1, 2005. Mrs. Schmierer was born in Lodi on May 19, 1916 to Adolph and Katherina Bechthold. She was raised in Lodi. She married Clarence Edward Schmierer on June 20, 1937. In 1953, they traveled for a number of years, settling in Sacramento in 1968. In 1997, she returned to Lodi. She enjoyed baking, sewing, needlepoint and embroidery. She attended Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Schmierer is survived by her two sisters, Edna Hensel of Lodi and Leona Lachenmaier of Bakersfield and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Schmierer in 1997 and two brothers, Arthur A. and Reinhold E. Bechthold. Friends are invited to attend services at Cherokee Memorial Park on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Chapel with Pastor Gene Napier of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Committal is private. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m., continuing until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home.
