Mrs. Ida Hoffman of Lodi and former resident of Galt passed away Monday November 28, 2005, in a Lodi hospital at the age of 86. Mrs. Hoffman was born January 8, 1919 in McPherson County, South Dakota to Christian C, and Elizabeth (Bertsch) Fischer. Mrs. Hoffman, together with her late husband Helmuth, founded the Crystalite Block Corporation in 1948, where she faithfully served in office accounting until her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Hoffman was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Lodi. She was a world traveler, an accomplished artist, and enjoyed participating in the fine arts; concerts, music and paintings. She also enjoyed gardening, restoring antiques, cooking, and mostly the special moments spent with her family and friends. She will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by 1 son, Lee Hoffman and wife Roberta of Woodbridge; 1 daughter, Donna Morse and husband Geary of Lodi; 2 brothers, Alvin Fischer of Vancouver, Washington; Oswald Fischer of Olympia, Washington; 1 sister, Leah Roth of Pompano Beach, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Alison Babcock and husband Randy of Murrieta; Julie Bowman and husband Zachary of Charleston, South Carolina; Kristyn Hoffman of Oakland; Grant Hoffman of Lodi; 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ethan Babcock of Murrieta, extended family Greg, Brian and Jakob Morse and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years Helmuth Hoffman in 1984, 2 brothers, Harold Fischer and Donald Fischer. A chapel service will be held Friday December 2, 2005, 10:00 am at the Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday 12:00-8:00pm.
