Mr. James Donald "Don" Mills of Lockeford passed away in Lodi at the age of 78 on November 12, 2005. Mr. Mills was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on October 16, 1927 to Oscar and Janie Mills. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1947. On December 3, 1949, he married Rachel Harrison. They moved to Lodi in 1962. He worked in newspaper distribution for 23 years for the Lodi News Sentinel as well as the San Francisco Chronicle. He had been a foreman for Heilite Trailers of Lodi from 1962-1972. Don also was self-employed in the used car business. He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church. Don enjoyed tinkering with old cars, reading newspapers, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters; Donna Shaw of Lodi, Niki Linn of Reno and Lisa (Renato) Moiso of Santa Barbara; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Charlene Frizzell of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Mills on August 26, 2002; son, David Mills and two brothers and one sister. A Celebration of Don's Life will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, corner of Church and Oak, with Rev. Dr. Alan Kimber officiating. Committal is private at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. There is no visitation. Remembrances may be made to Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation, 999 S. Fairmont Avenue, Suite 105, Lodi, CA 95240.
