Obituary of John Thomas Moran

John died after a sudden illness at the age of 61 on October 27, 2005. He was born to the late James and Catherine Moran on March 24, 1944 in New York City, NY where he resided until 1985 when he moved to California. John was a Vietnam Veteran having served from 1962-1965 in the Army. He graduated from City College of New York, played 2 years pro-football with the New York Giants and retired after working 20 years with Con Edison. In 1985, he came to California, first moving to Lodi and then settling in Galt. John was a hazardous materials engineer for Raytheon. John is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Sarah Moran; son, Jim Walker and his constant companions Penny, Cubby and Pacer. He is survived by one brother James Moran of NJ. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jim and Judy Davis of Rail Road Flat, sister-in-law Lori (Matt) Morales of LA and sister-in-law Cindy Davis of Acampo; numerous nephews and nieces and his adopted-by-friendship sister Pat Rennee and numerous friends he considered his extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother William Moran. John was active in numerous volunteer organizations within our community, just some of them being Crime Stoppers, Galt Chamber of Commerce, Galt Rotary, Red Cross, Galt Safety Committee, Boys & Girls Club of Galt, GHS Principal Advisory Committee, Galt Chiefs Pop Warner, Galt Booster Club and Galt Lions Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church at 9:00 AM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at Galt Funeral Home, 702 B Street, Galt, on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Visitation will be on Tuesday at Galt Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be at Galt Cemetery after the Mass. Reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the following trust fund: Galt Warriors Booster Club, John Moran Memorial Fund at any F & M Bank or Galt High School.
