Obituary of Richard DeMars

Rich DeMars, son of the late Donald & Betty DeMars, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton, CA on Friday, October 14, 2005. He was born in Aurora, Illinois and raised in Kankakee, Illinois where he graduated from Bishop McNamera High School in 1956. He then began a promising career in car sales. He moved to Fremont, CA, where he worked for Central Chevrolet with Shot for several years. He then embarked on his most adventurous project which was the purchase of Nugget Motors in Quincy, CA. He soon became one of the leading GM dealers in Northern California. He was a strong family man and very involved in the community. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce; Rotary Club, Elks Club, and E. Clampus Vitus. In 1987, he sold Nugget Motors to golf Pro Arnold Palmer and moved to Lodi CA. He continued selling cars for Plummer Pontiac/GMC, where he finally called it quits and retired from the car business (big cars that is). He then, with the influence of his buddy Dennis, became an avid NASCAR die cast collector. He had collected so many cars that he had to acquire space for a NASCAR store with new friend Duane in Lockeford, CA. He came out of retirement, and soon became the #1 NASCAROLOGIST in Northern CA. He never went to "work", he looked forward to going to his "toy store!" He could sell a snow cone to an Eskimo!!! Rich had a positive affect on everyone he came in contact with, every day of his life. He was always kind and considerate to all he met. He was "THE BEST" husband, father, papa and pop pop, uncle, brother, and friend. He is preceded in death by his daughter Lori, and his parents Donald and Betty. He is survived by his loving wife Jennie; his twin brother Ron and older brother Jim DeMars of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Troy and Kelly "little book" Morlan (daughter), granddaughters Kendra and Kelsey (his little Angels) of San Antonio, Texas; Cary DeMars (slippery) his #1 son of Reno, Nevada, and children of his former wife Karen Miller of Livingston, Texas. He also had two step families who loved him as if he was their own; Ron and Janell Dale & daughter Courtney & son Chandler of Roseville, CA; Oran and Michelle Morrison, son Cody and daughter Chyanne of Quincy, CA who dearly loved their Nana's pop pop. Visitation will be held at Lodi Funeral Home Monday, October 17, 2005 from 4:00 - 8:00pm. A memorial service to celebrate Rich's life will be held at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue, Lodi, CA on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 1:00pm.
