BEATRICE LOEWEN COBIA, Age 94 of Lodi, passed away on September 27, 2005 in a local convalescent hospital. Beatrice was born in Hitchcock, Oklahoma to Peter W. and Anna Loewen. The family moved to Lodi when Beatrice was eight years old. She graduated from Lodi Academy in 1926. She moved to Loma Linda in 1952 and then to Oregon in 1973, and returned to Lodi in 1999. From an early age, Beatrice showed great musical ability. She began teaching piano at the age of 15, taught music at Lodi Academy in her 20's, and then private lessons for the next 45 years. She leaves a legacy of music appreciation in the lives of hundreds of former students. She served as church organist at the Seventh-day Adventist Campus Hill Church in Loma Linda for many years. She enjoyed accompanying many other musicians and for special events during her musical career. She retired in 1973. Survived by her daughters, Fredine L. Chevrier of Lodi, Cheryl Mather and husband Peter of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughters, Kate Rumsey and husband, Greg of Fort Worth, Texas, Sylvie Chevrier and husband Peter Hoey of Arcata, CA, Wendy Chevrier of Sacramento; great-granddaughters: Madison and Lexie Long of Ft. Worth, Texas. Preceded in death by her husband, Jay Cobia; brothers, Elder Marvin Loewen and Delbert Loewen; parents, P. W. and Anna Loewen. Private graveside services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Friends may sign a virtual register book at www.lodifuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Lodi Funeral Home.
