Obituary of Lloyd Avery Smith

Lloyd Avery Smith of Lodi passed away at his residence peacefully on September 22, 2005 at the age of 89. Mr. Smith was born in Acampo on June 21, 1916. On September 11, 1937 he married Eleanor Reiswig in Acampo. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1944-1945. He and his family later moved to the Bay Area where he was an Inspector of Public Works for the City of Palo Alto, retiring after thirty-seven years with the City of Palo Alto. They returned to Lodi in 1978. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 22 of Lodi. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Smith of Lodi; two daughters, Barbara (husband, Walt) Akin of Woodbridge and Jan Guinn of San Ramon; five grandchildren; Richard Burnett of Lodi, Mike Tipton of Oroville, Donna Resinkin of Sunnyvale, John Wood of Modesto and James Burnett of Monterey and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild in 1988, Robin Resinkin. There is no visitation, and committal is private at Lodi Memorial Cemetery.
