Obituary of Paul Raymond Wuest

Paul Wuest, age 75, passed away July 2, 2005 in Lodi. He was born July 12, 1929 in Lake Andes, Charles Mix County, South Dakota. He grew up and worked on the family farm as a young man. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 as a military policeman. He was married on August 22, 1955 to Darlene Dvorak, his wife of 50 years in Lake Andes. After his discharge from the service, he worked construction from the Missouri River Dam Projects; consisting of Fort Randall, Fort Pierre and Fort Thompson Dams. In 1965, he was transferred to California by Western Contracting Corporation and supervised projects building the California Aqueduct and Folsom Canal. He lived in Newman and Bakersfield before moving to Lodi. In 1972 he went to work for San Joaquin County Public Works Department. He retired in 1991 as a General Foreman. Paul enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; two sons, Bill and wife, Janet, Bruce and wife, Carolyn and four grandchildren, Amy, Brad, Paul and John Wuest, all of Lodi; his sister, Edna Maruska of Lake Andes, S. D.; brother, George Wuest of Mitchell, S.D. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, William and Leon Wuest; sisters, Eloise Thompson and Mary Armfield Meyers. There will be services at Lodi Funeral Home Chapel on Friday at 11:00 AM. Committal will be private. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, continuing Thursday, 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Lodi Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to donor's choice.
