Obituary of Verna Plath

Verna was born to Martin and Martha Schmidt on October 14, 1944 at the old Buchanan Hospital on Pine Street in Lodi. She attended the old St. Peters Lutheran School until the family moved to Milpitas, CA., where she attended Spangler Grade School and Ayer High School. She married Harold Lee Plath on June 9, 1968 in San Jose, CA. They were best friends and soul-mates for 32 years until he was called by the Lord in January of 2000. Verna and Harold retired to Florence, OR., on the coast in 1993. Verna loved ocean lighthouses, and enjoyed coking large meals for family holidays and special occasions. Her true love was her family and especially spending time with her 6 grandchildren. Verna enjoyed working at Boething Treeland Nursery from 2001 until 2005. She lost her courageous battle with cancer on June 25, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Lee Plath, and her parents Martin and Martha Schmidt. She is survived by her 2 sons; Steve Plath and wife Cammie and Troy Plath of Lodi; sister Ramona and husband Marvin Kroll of Lockeford; 6 grandchildren: Aaron, Nathan and Claire of Lodi; and Chandler, Keaton, and Grace of Harrisburg, OR., several nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday, July 15th at 11:00 at Lodi Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of San Joaquin
