John Paul Barrett of Lodi, formerly of Modesto, passed away in Lodi at the age of 83 on Monday, May 16, 2005. Mr. Barrett was born on December 14, 1921 to Thomas and Sadie Barrett in Phillipsburg, MO. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, moving to California in 1945. He was self-employed as a barber for 27 years, having worked in the Modesto area. He married Yvonne May Adrian in 1962. They moved to Lodi in 1965. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and swap meets. He particularly enjoyed talking with all the people that he met. John is survived by his wife, Yvonne Barrett of Lodi; daughters, Linda Pegarella and Diana Barrett of Modesto; 2 grandchildren, Andrea and Amber and 2 great- grandchildren, Ty and Andrew; 2 brothers, Charlie and Clarence Barrett of MO and sister Irene Zebel of MO. He was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas and Lawrence Barrett and sisters, Blanche Gentz, Ann Finley, Margaret Vuichard and Katherine Beard. He was a member of California Houndsman Association. A service will be held at Evergreen Chapel on Friday at 10:00 AM at Cherokee Memorial Park with Deacon Don Bo of St. Anne's Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday at Lodi Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
