Obituary of Anna Sallaberry

Anna Sallaberry of Lockeford passed away on May 11, 2005 in Lodi at the age of 91. Mrs. Sallaberry was born in Helette, France to Pierre and Veronique Garra on August 29, 1913. In 1936 she married Jacques Sallaberry, and they settled in the Lockeford-Clements area in 1937. She worked as a cook since arriving in this area, having worked for Lodi Unified School District for 13 years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, needlepoint, ceramics, and she was a wonderful cook. She was fluent in the Basque language. Mrs. Sallaberry actively participated in the Lockeford Senior Lunch Program, and she was dedicated to fundraising for the Old Lockeford School. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed. She had been a long-time active member of St. Joachim Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Granlees and husband, Bill Christian of Lockeford; grandson, Mike and wife, Gina Granlees of Lodi and great-grandchildren, Trevor and Chantz Granlees. Mrs. Sallaberry was preceded in death by her husband, Jacques Sallaberry and brothers, Bernard and Pierre Garra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Lockeford with Father Michael Kelly as celebrant. Committal will immediately follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place on Sunday at 4:30 PM at St. Joachim Catholic Church. Visitation will begin on Saturday at Lodi Funeral Home at 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM, continuing on Sunday from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
