Donald E. Fehling was 66 when he won his battle over cancer and went to our Lord on March 25th, Good Friday. He died at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 19, 1938 in French Camp to John and Katherine Fehling. Don attended Davis School in Morada and graduated from Lodi High School in 1957. He was active in FFA, football and baseball. He was inducted into the Lodi Sports Hall of Fame in 1985 for being part of the 1955 Lodi Legion Baseball team. He later continued his love of sports by coaching Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball in Morada. After high school Don served his country in the 118th Ordinance Co. of the 75 Ordinance Battallion of the California National Guard. He was employed with the Agriculture Department of San Joaquin County and retired in 1997 after 35 years of service. Don was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family. He loved the outdoors and spent many pleasurable moments observing wildlife and traveling with his wife throughout the United States and Europe. He loved Idaho as his second home and shared it with his brother John. He was a loving and cherished husband, wonderful father, devoted grandfather and endearing brother and faithful friend. Don was loved and respected by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia Fehling and children Katherine Okazaki (Rick) of Lodi, Donald Fehling, Jr. (Mayra) of Arizona, Tina Morones (Frank) of Stockton and Elaine Fehling of Stockton. Don was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brother John Fehling (Irene) and sister, Carol Reiswig (Billie) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine Fehling and sister, Evelyn Hohe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes, St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. John's Episcopal Church Building fund and Hospice of San Joaquin County. Services will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday and committal will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM continuing Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Lodi Funeral Home.
