Long term Lodi resident, Harold Edgar Mehlhaff, age 80, passed away on March 5, 2005 following a short illness. Harold was born in Upham, North Dakota on August 15, 1924 to Fredrick and Bertha Mehlhaff. He and his parents moved to Lodi in 1935, where he attended grade school. Harold returned to North Dakota to attend High School, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Evelyn Allen on June 9, 1946. The newlyweds honeymooned in Yellowstone National Park en route to permanently relocating back to Lodi. Harold and Evelyn operated a dairy on Turner Road, prior to beginning his 36 years of service with General Mills of Lodi. Harold has long been an active member of Lodi Grace Presbyterian Church and its ministry. He was a member of the Lodi Owls Club, Lodi Community Concert Association, Sons in Retirement (Lodi Winers), Howard Street Watch Team and the Northern California Golf Association. He was a long-time Boy Scout Leader in Lodi, influencing the lives of many Lodi youth. He enjoyed travel, fishing, golf and most of all playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Evelyn. He is survived by his two sons, Michael Mehlhaff of Susanville, CA and Kelly Mehlhaff of Davis, CA, six grandchildren; Christopher Mehlhaff of Thetford, England, Matthew Mehlhaff of Reno, Nevada, Patrick Mehlhaff of Tacoma, Washington, Sara Mehlhaff of Sacramento, CA, Justin Mehlhaff of Santa Cruz, CA and Richelle Mehlhaff of Davis, CA and two great-grandchildren, Nichole and Peter Mehlhaff in England. Graveside services will be private, but friends and family are encouraged to attend the celebration of Harold?s life at Lodi Grace Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM on March 18, 2005. There is no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Association.
