Mike Michale, 97 years of age, passed away of natural causes on February 16, 2005. Born to Marina and Peter Michalenko in Kiev, North Dakota, he was the youngest of 13 children. Michael enjoyed a farm boy's life before serving in the United States Army, Company D, 12th Infantry, WWII. He was proud to have served his country in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe; returning with a Purple Heart Medal. Mike moved to Lodi in 1944 working as a Carpenter and Handyman into his late 80's. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Michale. He is survived by his daughter; Jan Hooper and her husband Don of New Mexico, son; Michael Michalenko of North Dakota, grandsons; Malcolm Hooper and his wife Lara of Washington, Stuart Hooper of Georgia, great-grandson; Julian Hooper and great-granddaughter; Bess Hooper. Step-family; Marie Simpson Nunn, Dennis, Richard, and Danny White, Judy Behnke, Diana Lang, Dustin, Hailey, and Brenda Mitchell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. "He lives on in our memory". Friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Monday, February 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Lodi Memorial Cemetery, 5750 E. Pine Street, Lodi. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion, Ed Stewart Post #803, Stockton. The services will be presided over by Pastor Wayne Fulmer of Horizon Christian Fellowship, Stockton.
