Obituary of Edwin Walther Hausauer

EDWIN WALTHER HAUSAUER, 83, passed away on January 13, 2005 in Lodi after a long illness. He was born on June 17, 1921 in Anamoose, North Dakota to Christ and Eva (Hieb) Hausauer. Edwin was raised in McClusky, ND where he attended school. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942. He served as a tank driver in Germany in the 7th Armored Division, having four tanks shot out from under him before he was taken prisoner in August of 1944 and held in Augsburg. Nearly a year later, he was liberated in Etrigah, Germany in April 1945. Upon his discharge, he settled in Lodi. On April 10, 1949 he married Luella Zweigle of Lodi. Edwin retired from Triangle Pacific in Lodi as head of maintenance in 1986. Edwin was a lifetime member of American Ex-POWs and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed traveling with Lodi Trailer Club. He especially liked his wood-working, making rocking horses and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lodi. His favorite pastime was his music. He loved playing his accordion and keyboards. Edwin is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Luella, sons, Daniel of Acampo, Jerry of Stockton; daughter, Donna and her husband, Lonnie Haslam of Stockton; grandsons, Danny Hausauer, Jr.. and Pvt. Mike Hausauer of Acampo. Also survived by brothers, Edward and Emil of Lodi, Adolph of San Lorenzo, Nordhal of Chico, Ruben of Hayward; sister, Alma Victorino of Yuba City. Preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Henry, John Hausauer; sisters, Leah Bosserman and Ida Baumbach-Harris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1845 S.
