Obituary of Dina Jean Beckwith

DINA JEAN BECKWITH, age 65 of Lodi, passed away on November 25, 2004 after a brief illness. She was born on June 22, 1939 in Houston, Texas. She came to California with her family as a child and they settled in southern California. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Masters degree in Education and Reading from Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. She was retired from the position of Director of the Tutor Center at San Joaquin Delta College where she also taught English and Study Skills classes for many years. She had also taught English at Lodi High School East Campus. Prior to her career in education she had been employed as a recreation specialist for Army Sprcial Services at bases in Germany, South Korea and the U.S. She was a world traveler and enjoyed cycling in different countries she visited. She was an avid reader. She was a member of Lodi Branch of AAUW. She is survived by her sisters; Carole (Steve) Edwards of San Diego and Sara Lynn (Walt) Patteson of Tracy; nieces and nephews, Walter Patteson of Point Magu, CA, Capt. Rich Patteson of Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, Marissa Edwards of Poway, CA and Loren Edwards of San Diego. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sara Beckwith.
