Obituary of Arthur Fredrick Marzolf

Arthur Fredrick Marzolf of Lodi passed away in Lodi at the age of 83 on November 22, 2004. He was born in Ashley, North Dakota on November 26, 1920 to John and Barbara Marzolf, and was raised on a farm. He married Pauline Martel on December 8, 1943. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He was also a member of the National Guard for three years He was a staff sergeant, receiving three Purple Hearts, three battle stars ETO, combat Infantry badge and Unit citation. He worked for the St. Louis Railroad. He moved to Lodi in 1959 with his family. Mr. Marzolf worked at a brick plant in Ione for 20 years, and then Johns-Manville, retiring from Lodi Unified School District. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 59, American Legion Post # 22 and VFW Post # 1968. He enjoyed working and being with his family. Mr. Marzolf is survived by his wife, Pauline Marzolf of Lodi; children, Harry and Caroline Marzolf of Lodi, Willis and Vickie Marzolf of Lodi, Kathleen and Jim Morris of Lodi, Myron and Theresa Marzolf of Lodi, Judy and Jeff Case of Galt, Peggy and Jeff Reed of Westwood, Vicky and Jerry Whetstone of Stockton; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, Ted and Leonard Marzolf and sisters, Martha Golz, Gertrude Volk and Amelia and Olga Marzolf. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at St Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Russ Kreydt officiating. Committal will immediately follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 12 noon until 8:00 PM, continuing Sunday, noon until 8:00 PM at Lodi Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Avenue, Lodi, CA 95240.
