Obituary of John Graef

JOHN W. GRAEF, age 82 , passed away on Nov. 16, 2004 at his residence in Lockeford. He was born on September 28, 1922 in Hutchinson, Kansas where he lived until the age of 10. He moved with his family to the Los Angeles area and he attended schools there. In 1953 he moved to Spokane, Washington where he met Veva Harris. They were married on September 25, 1954 in Couer D'alene, Idaho They made their first home in Spokane later moving to Portland, Oregon. In 1963 they came to southern California and moved to Galt in 1982. Then they lived in Reno, Paradise, Lodi and settled in Lockeford in 2002. John was employed as a refrigeration installer for many years. Upon his retirement, he purchased a truck and was self employed as a truck driver for the next six years His hobbies included motorcycles and he was a member of the American Motocross Association. He was an avid fisherman, camper and also enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife, Veva Graef of Lockeford; a son, Eric Graef of Galt; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Tantlinger of Rogue River, Oregon. Preceded in death by 2 sons, John Graef and Jerry Graef; 2 daughters, Cassandra Graef and Veva Preszler; 2 brothers, Claude Graef and Joe Graef; a sister, Kitty Parks.
